Thank You!

First, a big, big thank you to all of the readers who have reached out to me on social media this year (Facebook and Twitter). Yes, there is a lot of bad on the web these days, but you all have reminded me of the good. It always blows my mind when someone takes time out of his or her day to pass on a kind thought. Seriously, writing can be a lonely business. Sometimes I wonder if I’ve made up this whole author business in my head…Okay, fine, it’s not that bad. I mean, I do have copies of my books as physical proof, but they seem stare at me suspiciously from my bookshelf like those paintings with the eyes cut out.  You know what I mean? No? That’s okay. I’ll show myself out.

Second, SNOWED IN WITH MURDER is now available all sorts of places including Amazon and Barnes and Noble. If you’ve missed all of the giveaways so far, I will be visiting Dru’s Book Musings on Feb. 13. There will be two copies up for grabs to Canadian and US residents.

What I’m Working On

It’s crazy, but SKINNY DIPPING WITH MURDER came out less than a year ago, and now I’m working on finishing up the fourth book in the series, RING IN THE YEAR WITH MURDER, release date: October 31, 2017. Yah! Halloween baby! I’m pretty excited about it. This book has been the most enjoyable to write so far.

For the Authors

My husband, business-practices-dude extraordinaire, gave me this book called Deep Work (for the record, I don’t know the author, editor, publisher or anything like that), and it has changed my world. Seriously, if you have trouble with getting in the zone or procrastination, it might help you out too!

Oh, Thank Whoever, you are writing a fourth Otter Lake book! The whole reason I googled your name was so I could find your website so I could email you that there damned well better be another Otter Lake book. It’s not fair to kill people by forcing them to HANG on to just WAIT AND SEE if there WOULD BE another book.
I’ve never written such a rude email to an author in my life! I just finished the third book 5 minutes ago and I was flipping frantically through the other pages at the back muttering “There damned well better be another one,” and there wasn’t even so much as a “Be sure to watch for the fourth Otter Lake book” let alone even a little tiny excerpt from the first few pages of it!
Okay, I’m sorry I yelled at you. Thank you very much for putting the title and release date in your blog post. I feel a little calmer now. I read constantly and I have never read a book that ended by me screeching there better be a next one. Any other book I would at least searched on Amazon first.
Again, Thank you. Please don’t get mad and stop writing it because of this email.

Dear Holly, You are most welcome to yell at me any time you like! You have completely made my day! Yeah, for awhile there I wasn’t sure if there was going to be a fourth book either – my original contract was just a 3-book deal. But St. Martin’s has offered me another 3-book deal, so 4, 5, and 6 are on the way. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm – it’s just the boost I need to get the ending done for Ring in the Year with Murder. It’s hard to write in February.
Have a great day! And thanks again!

But…can we get more of Bremy St. James?

    • February 11, 2017 at 6:13 pm

Oh, I hope so. I’m always trying to think up ways that I can bring Bremy back. Time and money are big factors, but I’m looking into options. It certainly motivates me when I get comments like yours! Thanks.
